The Briggs & Stratton Environmental & Energy Services Department has the responsibility to uphold the Briggs & Stratton commitment to sustainability and evironmental progress.


The Briggs & Stratton Environmental & Energy Services Department has the responsibility to ensure that the Corporation is in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. In addition, this team provides assistance to the Safety Department in protecting our employees. We provide engineering services for the design of systems to improve and/or protect the environment, reduce waste and conserve energy. Lastly, our group is committed to sustainability as an integral part of helping our business become more profitable and our brand more valuable The Environmental & Energy Team’s primary services and objectives are:

Protection of Employees:

We are committed to the protection of employee health through the systematic review of indoor air quality, development and review of industrial hygiene plans. In addition, a systematic review of all chemicals used in our operations ensures our employees have a safe and healthy work environment.

Commitment to Environmental Compliance:

We are committed to managing our operations according to the applicable federal, state, and local regulations to protect the air, land and water from adverse effects in the manufacturing and use of our products. Lastly, we develop environmental restrictions on products that will demonstrate our commitment to product stewardship and compliance with global environmental regulations

Effective Management of Natural Resources:

We are responsible in assessing current and proposed manufacturing operations to employ management systems, design engineered systems, or incorporate processes that will reduce environmental impacts. We are committed to measuring and reducing energy, waste, raw materials and water and identifying practical strategies to manage our resources, lower our costs and help our business become more profitable.

Reducing Risk:

We perform annual environmental reviews on each manufacturing facility to ensure our operations are in full compliance; identify opportunities for improvement and examples demonstrating our corporate commitment to sustainability. In addition, we are responsible with our waste and recycled materials by auditing all environmental sensitive vendors, and ensure they are operating their facilities in full compliance with environmental regulations and are under service agreements,
