Vanguard™ Single-Cylinder Engines With Transportguard™ Wins Editor's Choice Award From Rental Magazine

MILWAUKEE (January 13, 2015) — Vanguard™ Single-Cylinder Engines with TransportGuard™ from Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power received a 2014 Editor’s Choice Award from Rental Magazine.

“We first launched our new line of single-cylinder engines with the TransportGuard system in 2010 with the intention to prevent engine downtime by addressing common issues found in rental equipment engines,” said Jim Cross, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power. “To be here more than four years later and have customers still asking for TransportGuard to protect their equipment is saying something.”

Rental’s 2014 Editor’s Choice Awards are selected by the magazine’s editorial staff. Winners are based on a set of criteria including innovation, longevity in the market, utility, versatility and productivity. Also factoring in the selection is the amount of interest the product has received on the publication’s online Buyer’s Guide.

The four Vanguard single-cylinder engines boast gross horsepower ratings ranging from 5.5 to 15 gross horsepower1. The engines include many features specifically designed to address the top worksite challenges cited by end-user customers and OEMs: heavy dust, lack of regular maintenance, filtration issues and oil dilution during transportation. Most notably, the engines include an integrated switch, called the TransportGuard™ system, which Vanguard engineers designed to simultaneously shut off the ignition and the fuel. This patented innovation ensures that fuel stays where it belongs and helps eliminate fouled plugs, hydraulic lock, cylinder wash down and crankcase oil dilution caused by transportation.
