POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI (February 19, 2014) – Briggs & Stratton [NYSE: BGG] held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its Poplar Bluff, Missouri facility on February 17, 2014. The Company has made significant investments in the facility over the past 18 months to consolidate its operations into one, state-of-the-art focus factory to set the stage for new, innovative and highly valued OHV engine designs. Briggs & Stratton’s Poplar Bluff facility manufactures small engines for the outdoor power equipment industry.
“Our entire team at Poplar Bluff has worked tirelessly to make sure our facility is well poised to launch new innovative engine platforms, along with existing engine platforms on two newly reconditioned and reconfigured assembly lines,” said Mark Melloy, Plant Manager. “I am extremely proud of our team and what we have accomplished. This poises us well for the future in producing highly innovative engines for our OEM’s.”
Briggs & Stratton’s Chairman, President & CEO, Todd Teske along with Sr. Vice President & President Engines Group, Joe Wright, Plant Manager, Mark Melloy and all the employees at the Poplar Bluff facility gathered with many community members, including Ed DeGaris, Poplar Bluff City Mayor, Steve Halter, President Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and many others to officially dedicate the newly remodeled facility at the ribbon cutting ceremony held at the plant.
