MILWAUKEE (September 4, 2015) — Briggs & Stratton Corporation (NYSE: BGG) knows that Labor Day weekend should be spent with family and friends before the business of fall yard care and back to school takes over. But, often times the weekend becomes dedicated to yard work that was left unattended over the summer, and it becomes a rush to finish before colder weather arrives. To ensure the weekend does not become dominated by yard care and chores, Briggs & Stratton has compiled some recommendations.
Make A Plan
Taking the time to write out a plan can save time and stress—especially if chores are divided among family members. Think about the order in which everything needs to be finished so one task does not hamper another. For instance, pressure wash the deck after digging in the garden to ensure dirt does not accidentally get tracked across the clean surface. Writing down tasks will also organize any materials needed, keeping trips to the store down to a minimum.
Get The Right Tools
Make sure all the tools that are needed are acquired ahead of time. Investing in the right tools to get the job done efficiently and properly can save time for a small investment and then they will be in the arsenal for future use.
Know Your Limits
If a chore is a first time attempt and has never been tackled before; be sure to plan enough time. There are many resources available to help plan tasks and determine the amount of time it will take to get the job done. Consult your local retailer or hardware store if the experience with certain tools or a project is limited.
Keep Projects Seasonal
With an extra day to complete yard work, it is easy to get ambitious. But, keep in mind the season, and what projects make sense. For example, it’s not the best time for weed treatment but, it is a great time for fall projects like prepping the snow blower for winter.
By incorporating these recommendations from Briggs & Stratton, outdoor chores or home improvement projects can be completed more efficiently, and you can get back to having a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
